March 21-24

Dear Parents,

Spring is here!  This is a wonderful time to be in awe of God’s power and wisdom as we see all the new growth and changes in His world!  He truly is an awesome God!

Zion has many wonderful opportunities to worship our awesome God during Holy Week!  Maundy Thursday (Living Last Supper) services will be at 3:30 and 7 p.m.  Good Friday services will take place at 3:30 and 7 p.m.   Easter services will be on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11 a.m.

Information for the coming week(s):

*Our last “field trip” for the year will be on April 8th.  We won’t be leaving campus because the Magic House will be coming to us!  We will have a interactive presentation on Forces and Motion.  In order for this presentation to be interactive, I am in need of 4 parents to come and help from 12:30-1:30.  If you are able to help, please email me.  Thanks!

*April 21st at 7 p.m. will be the 1st-3rd grade musical.  Please let me know by Thursday if your child will not be participating.

What we will be working on next week:

Religion:  We will be reading the Passion Story from our Bibles and then making “Story Stones” that will help us retell The Story and then give the stones to some of Zion’s Preschool students.

Reading:  We will finish up our Biography unit by finishing “Who Was Helen Keller?”  This series, Who Was/Is,  is a great series for your child to learn about people.  The St. Charles library system has many of the books in this series!

Math: We will test over 4’s this week.  This week we learned to count back change…a challenging concept for some of us.  Feel free to ask your child to count back change from a dollar (remind them to start with the lowest coin when counting back).

Science:  We will finish up our Health Unit by learning about healthy meal choices.  On Wednesday and Thursday will be our “Family Education” discussion.

Grammar:  Comparative and Superlative Adjectives

Writing:  Finish up our unit on writing stories
