February 27-March 3

Dear Parents,

This week in chapel, the 6th graders led the chapel and talked to us about “mountain top high” experiences and how we are thankful to our God for giving us those awesome moments in our lives!

Information for the coming week(s):

*Don’t forget…Spring Auction Round Up is next week (Feb 27th – March 3rd)! The class with the most donations will receive 30 minutes of extra time in the gym! Need donation ideas? Grab a leaf with a donation idea off one of the Auction Trees the week before round up to help you shop. Monetary donations are also accepted and any help is appreciated! Thank you for your generosity!

*Grandparent’s Day/Special Friend’s Day is Friday, March 10th.  Dismissal Consent forms went home in red folders.  Please return them to me by Friday, March 3rd.

*Part of our third grade health curriculum includes a session of family life education and this will occur on March 17th. The textbook we will be using is entitled “Where Do Babies Come From?” from Concordia Publishing House.  If you would like to preview the book before the class, please email me and we will figure out a way to send it home.  Consent forms will be sent home next week; you will have the option for your child not to attend this one time session on the 17th.

What we will be doing next week:

Religion:  Life/Miracles of Jesus

Reading:  Continue our work with The Lemonade War.  We will be focusing on how an author uses flashbacks as a literary technique.  Word work will be focusing on suffixes.

Math:  Yards, Feet, Inches…keep practicing subtraction facts.

Grammar:  Organizing thoughts/information before writing a paragraph, review of verbs

Writing:  We will be starting a new writing unit, Slice of Life, which will be the start of students publishing their writing on a blog.  Once we get the blog up and running, I will send you information so that you can read/comment on your child’s writing! 🙂
